The goal of yoga is to settle the mind and in Chapter 1, verse 33 of the Yoga Sutras Patanjali says, “By cultivating friendship, compassion, gladness, and indifference toward those who are comfortable, those suffering, the virtuous, and the non-virtuous, the mind is purified and made pleasant.” So practicing non judgement in this well rounded class. Then we can take what we learn in yoga off our mats and into our challenging day. Observing the judgements we have and seeing if we can let go of them and come back to our breath giving us space and a buffer between what we think and how we feel and respond to the difficult times we are in.
